Kalumbila, North-Western Province
Kalumbila is built around the Sentinel open pit, part of the Trident complex, one of the largest copper mines on the continent and one of the most heavily mechanised. Large-scale mobile plant and process infrastructure at that scale mean a great deal of controlled bolting, a great deal of hydraulic tooling, and torque work whose records are audited.
Served from the Copperbelt, roughly 170 km beyond Solwezi.
What the site demands of a tooling partner
North-Western Province is the distance problem in Zambian mining. Kalumbila sits well past Solwezi on a road that punishes schedules, and the historical answer to a failed torque wrench there has been a crate, a border and several weeks. For an operation running large mills, crushers and a big mobile fleet, that is not a maintenance delay, it is a production one.
Trackcor works the other way round: the technician travels, not the tool. Calibration is carried out on site, servicing is planned against the shutdown calendar rather than reacting to it, and only the work that genuinely needs a workshop bench leaves the operation.

Common questions
Do tools have to leave Kalumbila for calibration?
Not for routine calibration. It is carried out on site. Only work that needs a workshop bench or a load frame travels, and it is batched so the fleet moves once.
Does Trackcor have an office at Kalumbila?
Trackcor serves Kalumbila from its Zambian base rather than a local branch, with onsite delivery and, where a contract calls for it, permanently assigned people on the operation.
