Tool repair and maintenance

A properly equipped workshop for hydraulic, pneumatic, electric and battery tooling, with the parts and the brand authority to return a tool to specification rather than to working order.

Trackcor technicians repairing tooling in the workshop

There is a difference between a tool that works and a tool that is back to specification. A hydraulic torque wrench with a tired seal will still turn a nut; it will simply not deliver the torque its gauge claims. Repair work that ends at "it runs again" is how an operation accumulates a fleet of tools that all appear serviceable and none of which can be trusted.

Trackcor repairs to the manufacturer’s specification and proves it on test before the tool goes back. Where a tool is a brand we are authorised on, that means genuine parts and the manufacturer’s own procedure rather than a workaround.

What comes through the workshop

FamilyTypical work
Hydraulic torque wrenchesSeal kits, ratchet and pawl wear, drive retention, cylinder honing, recertification on test
Hydraulic pumps and power packsValve and seal overhaul, gauge replacement, pressure setting, flow test
Cylinders and jacksReseal, rod and bore inspection, load test to rated capacity
Torque multipliersGear train inspection, bearing replacement, backlash and ratio check
Manual torque wrenchesMechanism overhaul, spring replacement, scale correction, recalibration
Pneumatic toolsMotor and vane replacement, air path cleaning, governor setting, lubrication
Electric and battery toolsArmature, brush and bearing work, switchgear, electrical safety test
Drills, grinders and impact toolsFull strip, wear part replacement, guard and safety device check

How a repair runs

  1. 01The tool is received against your asset number, so the history follows the tool rather than the job
  2. 02Inspection and evaluation, with a quotation before any work starts
  3. 03Strip and assess, replacing wear parts as a set rather than one at a time where that is the cheaper answer over the tool’s life
  4. 04Rebuild to the manufacturer’s specification
  5. 05Final test under load, and calibration where the tool is torque-reliant
  6. 06Return with the test record and, where applicable, a fresh calibration certificate

Why local repair changes the numbers

The cost of a repair is rarely the cost of the repair. It is the cost of the repair plus the weeks the tool is unavailable, plus the spare tool bought to cover that gap, plus the freight both ways. Repairing in Zambia removes most of that, and it is why operations that used to hold deep spares can hold fewer once the turnaround becomes days instead of weeks.

Common questions

Which brands can you repair?

Trackcor is an authorised service centre for Enerpac and services Norbar, Ingersoll Rand, Gedore, Hi-Force, Edmo and Milwaukee tooling. We also repair tools from brands we do not carry, where parts can be obtained.

Do you quote before starting work?

Yes. Every tool is inspected and evaluated first, and the quotation goes out before any work begins. Nothing is stripped beyond what the evaluation needs without your agreement.

Is the tool calibrated after a repair?

Any torque-reliant tool is tested under load and recalibrated as part of the repair, and goes back with the certificate. A repair that changes a tool’s behaviour and does not re-prove its accuracy is not finished.

Can repairs be done on site?

Lighter work and diagnosis can be. Anything needing a press, a load frame or a clean bench comes into the workshop, and we will usually take the whole batch at once rather than shuttle tools individually.

Where this is delivered

Tool repair and maintenance is delivered across the Zambian Copperbelt and North-Western Province, into Lusaka, Central and Southern Provinces, and across the border into the DRC copperbelt.
