Most operations do not have a tooling problem. They have a tooling-ownership problem: the store issues tools, maintenance repairs them, reliability owns calibration, procurement buys replacements, and nobody owns the number that matters, which is whether the right tool is available, accurate and accounted for when a crew needs it.
Managed tooling makes that one company’s responsibility. Trackcor staffs and runs the tool store, tracks every asset through issue and return, keeps calibration and servicing current, repairs what breaks, holds the stock that has to be there, and reports monthly on availability, losses, compliance and spend.
What Trackcor takes on
- Tool issue, return and custody, with every movement recorded against a person and a job
- Asset register and marking, so every tool is identifiable and traceable
- Calibration and servicing schedules, run to date rather than chased
- Repair, refurbishment and the decision on when to replace
- Consumable stock levels, reordering and minimum holdings
- Compliance evidence, ready for audit rather than assembled for it
- Monthly reporting on availability, loss, cost and exceptions
Tracked digitally, not on a clipboard
The service runs on Trackcor Tools, our own platform. Tools are scanned in and out in the field, custody is recorded as it happens rather than reconstructed later, calibration status is visible per tool, and the monthly report is produced from the record rather than from memory. It is the difference between knowing where your tooling is and believing you know.
How an engagement starts
- 01A survey of what you actually hold, which is usually not what the register says
- 02Marking and registration of the fleet, including tools found outside the store
- 03An agreed service level: what must be available, to whom, how fast
- 04Calibration and servicing brought current, with the backlog worked off on a plan
- 05Handover of day-to-day running, with reporting from the first month
Common questions
Does Trackcor staff the tool store?
Where the contract calls for it, yes. The service is scoped to the operation: some clients want the store staffed and run end to end, others want the asset control, calibration and repair layer while keeping their own storeman.
What happens to tools we already own?
They are surveyed, marked, registered and brought into the schedule. Managed tooling does not start with a purchase order; it starts with an honest count of what is on site.
How is performance measured?
Against an agreed service level and a monthly report covering availability, calibration compliance, losses, repair turnaround and spend. The point of the service is that those numbers exist and have an owner.
Is the tracking system included?
Yes. The service runs on Trackcor Tools, our own platform, and the reporting comes out of it. There is no separate software purchase.
